Wuliwulawala: Dharawal Women Sharing Stories

17 April – 14 June 2021

Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre

The ‘Wuliwulawala: Dharawal Women Sharing Stories’ exhibition celebrated the resilience and creativity of First Nations women in the Dharawal Nation of southern Sydney. Featuring historical content, interviews and contemporary art, this exhibition focused on the importance of sharing stories, knowledge and oral histories across generations, while recognising the perspectives of women connected to our local and national history.

The Wuliwulawala (women) project was developed in collaboration with the La Perouse Local Aboriginal Land Council, the Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre and the National Museum of Australia. Many of the oral histories featured on this website have been adapted from this original exhibition.
